Germain and Ginger II

Germain and Ginger II

COCKTAIL— This is a slight spin on one of my favorites, the Germain and Ginger Martini which is a stone’s throw from a traditional Lemon Drop Martini. I love, love, love a good Lemon Drop which can be deceptively difficult to make. I added a little pazazz by adding ginger syrup and St. Germain to make my Germain and Ginger. It’s sweet, a bit tart, and lovely with that touch of ginger root flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz Hendrick’s Gin Flora Adora

  • 1 oz Domaine Canton

  • 0.5 oz St. Germain

  • 0.5 oz ginger syrup (recipe below)

  • 0.5 - 1.0 oz lemon juice

How to make ginger syrup

  1. Start with ginger juice. You can make fresh ginger juice using a juicer and peeled ginger root or you can purchase pure ginger juice (I like The Ginger People’s Ginger Juice).

  2. Combine one part ginger juice, one part sweetner (a nice raw honey here is a great combo with the ginger, but you can use plain sugar as well), and one part water.

  3. You can add to a low simmer heat in a saucepan and stir together or you can give it a hearty shake in a plastic container sans heat.

How to make a Germain + Ginger II

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake and pour.

-Cheers!
